This is one of my all time favorite indian dishes, it is something that I can order whenever I get lost on what I should order when I’m in South-Asia! My old standby that has yet to fail me so far from the small little shack by the road to the poshest room service menu!

Butter chicken (or murgh makhani) is part of the Pakistani cuisine & Indian cuisine, popular in countries all over the world. The origins of butter chicken can be traced back to a Punjabi restaurant called Moti Mahal in Delhi. Butter Chicken is regarded to have been first introduced by Moti Mahal in Daryaganj, Delhi. It’s also believed that Butter Chicken has been eaten in India for more than a thousand years. Butter chicken is usually served with naan, roti, parathas, roomali roti or steamed rice.

Not so good news for my health as it is not the healthiest dish around with generous amount of butter in each serving! This one is off the streets from a famous little shack according to my host and yes we had to wait like 30 minutes for it and this was well worth the wait! The chicken was super tender and the spicy mix was divine! The only let down was that the garlic nann that was not as flavorful as it should be and was served to us cold!!! Thank god the chicken made up for it!
