Wing Kee Ipoh Hor Fun @ Changi Village

In Eating out, Food from Home, Outside Dubai, singapore on August 8, 2011 at 10:34

One of the simple things that I miss when I’m away from home is the Chicken Chop Horfan(a type of rice noodle) that is found in changi village. It is what I consider a simple pleasure of life, food does not have to be expensive and served in a posh location to be good.

The simple one dish meal that we have here is served in a food center that is non-airconditioned and is very basic but that does not stop me from coming back time and again and is often my 1st stop after I arrive in Singapore.

The food centers or what’s commonly known as the hawker center is a place where many yummy foods can be found for a very reasonable price and where-else can you find specialists who spend 20, 30 or even 40 years of their lives perfecting that one dish. Many people over look this group of people who are producing some of the best down to earth chow and as the younger generation are unwilling to slave over a stove in a hawker center, we find these guys a dying breed so do enjoy them before they disappear.

Back to the star of the post, the chicken chop horfan!!! For SGD$ 3 or AED9 you get a wonderful plate of wonderful horfan that is smooth ,silky and made tastier by the addition of that little bit of lard. The horfan is topped by a piece of deep-fried chicken chop that is crispy on the outside and so juicy and savoury on the inside … all that wonderful ingredients is topped by this special chicken sauce that is made by brewing boiling Old Mother Hens for many many hours!

I’m a big big fan of their horfan, let me know how you find it. Ps I know someone who always orders extra chicken chops when ordering their horfan!!!
