Singapore Deli‏

In Eating out on July 15, 2010 at 00:53

Tucked in a quit unassuming corner in busy busy Al Karama is Singapore Deli.

Talk about contradiction that is so typically Dubai. Singapore Deli is the shop that is owned by a Malaysian, serves Indonesian food and has Filipino service staff.

There is no chicken rice, laksa or char kway teow here but rather expect ayam soto, gado gado, tauhu goreng, nasi lemak, nasi rendang, Nasi Dagang , satay and teh* halia.

Brought a friend here for dinner after completing our shopping in nearby Burjuman Mall. Its one of my favourite places to shop as it has almost all my favourite brands without the crowd and queue at MOE or Dubai Mall.

Ordered ayam satay, gado gado and ayam soto to share.

The ayam satay was yummy, 6 sticks of tender marinated chicken and a nice peanut sauce. Well done, satay Indonesian style.

The gado gado was authentic with the same nutty flavour from the peanut sauce.

The ayam soto again was served with mee hoon rather than mee but it was good enough, with nicely shredded chicken.

The bill was a reasonable one for the 3 dishes and 2 drinks. AED80 or SGD31 including the tips.
